I think we can all agree that reviewing hand histories and studying different scenarios are very important to becoming a better poker player. To get better faster, you have to be willing to analyze individual hands, entire tournaments, study what works for other players, and incorporate the findings into your game. The problem is that it can be very tedious to go through hand histories manually. Thankfully, we have several different replayers available to us to make reviewing hands easier. There is another aspect of analyzing our games that gets overlooked: reviewing player notes.
Unless you store your notes directly in Holdem Manager, it becomes very difficult to review a hand history of a player in the database and then cross-reference it against your notes stored in the Full Tilt Poker client. If you are a new user of Holdem Manger, you obviously don't have any notes in the Holdem Manager database yet, so we need an easy way to transfer our Full Tilt Poker notes over. Thankfully, we have found a new AutoHotKey (AHK) script to help with that.
Full Tilt Poker Notes is a new AHK script that automatically takes the notes that you have created in Full Tilt Poker and transfers them over to your Holdem Manager database. Having notes available to view while analyzing your sessions is very important. For example, if you review hands and simply see that in one hand you snap called a cut-off shove from the big blind with just A-J offsuit for half your stack, you would probably think that this was a leak you need to fix. Now, let’s assume that you have notes available on that player and see that he was on extreme monkey tilt after suffering two bad beats in a row. You may discover that this was the correct play while it happened, but if you review the play later with no notes to go by, you will begin to second guess your play unnecessarily. So, it’s important to have notes in your tracking database. Now, lets take a look at how to transfer your notes into your Holdem Manager database:
Here is how you get started using this program.
1) Get a copy of FTP Notes.
2) Unzip the contents to your desired location
3) There is a .doc file in the .zip file called “FTP Notes AHK Script”
4) Open this file and follow the simple setup steps
Once you get the program set up, it’s simple to use. This script simply provides you with a solution to importing your Full Tilt Poker notes into your Holdem Manager database. If you are trying to convert notes manually, I would suggest letting this script do the work for you. After all, it’s free to use and will only make your life easier.
As always, if you have questions, problems, or any other concerns, please make a post in the AHK Forum and we will be there to help.
